The Grassi Museum, which belongs to the university, shows you how instrument makers from the 16th century onwards set out in search of the perfect sound. You can experience the impressive craftsmanship and artistic skills through the around 5,000 valuable instruments. This makes the Grassi Museum's collection one of the largest of European musical instruments.Among the most important exhibits are the oldest dated clavichord (1543) and the oldest fortepiano in the world (1726), which has been preserved in its original condition. At the museum's sound laboratory you can also try out some instruments for yourself.
